A popular establishment since 2003 in Cintra Street, Wen Chang resturant is well known for offering its patrons one of the best Hainanese chicken rice in Penang. Its history of selling chicken rice is back dated till 1967, when the parents of the current owner sell Hainanese chicken rice as a hawker at Church Street. The originality of chicken rice still has been preserved since 1967, with the only exceptional is the addition of lobak. It might forbear for some senior Penangite to reminiscent the great chicken rice which might accompanied them throughout their life journey.
The choice here is simple, just pick either white or black chicken, or both. For some who is not clear about, white chicken refers to poached chicken while black chicken refers to roasted chicken.
Even though it is just a simple dish but there is a great satisfaction by having lunch here. The white chicken is poached to perfection, exhibiting an excellent tenderness and softness. The roasted chicken is good too, though it is recommended to go for white chicken when having a plate of Hainanese chicken rice.
There are a few side dishes available for your grab, such as lobak, taukua or eggs. The lobak (RM2.00/piece) is amply stuffed with meat fillings, and the credit goes to it by not exhibiting much oily feeling.
Chili is provided on each table, and it has well balance of spicy and sour taste to add on the sensation to the plate of chicken rice.

The total damage for the lunch is RM12.00, which I think is reasonable as the price for certain food in Georgetown has really become exorbitant high lately since the title UNESCO heritage area has bestowed to this once British colonial city.
There is a modest stall opposite of Wen Chang restaurant which sells nice and crispy you tiao for RM1.30 per peice.
