Nothing is more wonderful than savouring a bowl of chilling dessert such as cendol during a scorching hot sunning days.Â
Served with fine shaved ice, pandan cendol, red beans and palm sugar syrup sweetened coconut milk, the Cendol (RM 2.50) in Gerai Jalan Danby has a distinctive properties that makes it different from those you find in Penang - it comes with a steamed and sticky glutinous rice.
Though the glutinous rice added some elusive taste to the dessert, the coconut milk was over sweetened with palm sugar syrup for our liking. The pandan cendol was soft and not consistent.Â
Nevertheless, the generous amount of shaved ice compensated for the shortcomings as it really chills us during the sunny days.
