Japanese Raindrop Mochi? I was bemused when I heard this dessert name, thinking what is behind this such grandeur name. As I dug more information about this dessert, it is discovered that Myarte Cafe in Lebuh Bishop serves this unique dessert.

Japanese Raindrop Mochi, or known as Mizu Shingen Mochi was such a buzz over the Internet in 2014 when it firstly introduced. The mochi looks like a huge drop of mystic water, magically suspended in a solid form. Amazingly, the water droplet can be held with hand, and gives a texture when biting.

Such a surreal looking mochi is served at Myarte Cafe for RM 6 per piece, or per drop should I call it. Sided with it are Kuromitsu (black sugar syrup) and Kinako (roasted soybean powder). Upon putting the mystic droplet onto your tongue, it dissolves slowly, yielding a cooling refreshing taste. It tasted much like a sugar-free jelly, but Kuromitsu and Kinako gave it a sweet-ending and texturizing respectively.

This modest cafe turned out to be a good place for relaxation in the evening, while enjoying some great food. We had a ham and cheese croissant (RM 12) and it is commendable that their housemade croissant, with irresistible buttery scent and crispy texture is simply delectable. Coupled with chicken ham and a piece of cheddar cheese, a sense of totality for the meal is achieved.

Sprinkled with chilli flakes and cheese powder, the Bacon Spaghetti Aglio e Olio (RM 15) is definite a bargain for someone whom loves springy al-dente noodles. The firmness of the spaghetti noodles yielded great satisfaction, and the slight hotness and cheesiness furthered heightened the taste. A few slices of bacon is added, and there is a vegetarian version shall you prefer a vegetarian diet.

The evening is perfected with a cup of Cafe Mocha (RM 11). The coffee and chocolate scent were well done, though if I were to nitpick, the finishing of latte arts could have been better.

The cafe is just small in size but makes an ideal place for an evening hangout with friends or colleagues, while enjoying a cup of drink. The menu has limited choices but as far as we are concerned, we have tried the varieties offered - croissant and spaghetti, and both were up against the expectations. The raindrop mochi was a bonus to finish the evening.
