The Lengkuas Cafe is one of the very few cafe located within the buffer zone of Georgetown UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers authentic Malay cuisine. Adhering strict to their mother's recipe, the brothers at The Lengkuas Cafe churns out delicious Malay dishes using Galangal (lengkuas) in every of their dishes, hence deriving to their cafe name. Among the popular dishes in the cafe including Serabai (a scarcely available traditional Malay kuih), Nasi Tomato, Nasi Lemak, Laksa and their homemade cakes, which set to offer a twist to the regular cafes in town that majors in western cuisine.
Yus, a former bank executive turned chef is the main driver at The Lengkuas Cafe. Tired of a nine-to-five job, he conceived The Lengkuas Cafe on February 2018 with the help from his aunt and brother. Thanks to his passion for cooking and an inherited recipe from his mother, the cafe business blossoms since its inception.

The Lengkuas Cafe serves a few peculiar dishes that stood out, which very few of other cafe in Georgetown has to offer. For instance, Malay Bihun Sup Ayam, Nasi Kacang and Set Roti Benggali are some of the delicious examples which we could quote.
Not to miss out Malaysian's all time favourite Nasi Lemak, which is served with a piece of fried chicken marinated with galangal and mixture of spices that yields a subtle aromatic taste, along with delicious sambal, anchovies and peanut. Another signature here would be their Famous Laksa Cik Umi, which is a blend of Chinese and Malay cooking with a balance of sweetness and spiciness.

For the sweet tooth, the array of homemade cakes such as Brownies Walnut, Choc Banana and Baked Cheesecake are the order of the day here. Alternatively, enjoy a hearty sweet Malay traditional desserts Bubur Pisang, Bubur Kacang or Bubur Hitam.
