Campbell Street in Penang is a wonder street in our humble opinion. It is packed with abundance of traditional and modern eateries, and one of relatively new eatery here is L Kitchen 李月香 粥麵饭. The restaurant English name gives no clue about what kind of cuisine they are serving but the Chinese name tells they are serving rice, porridge and noodles. We thoroughly enjoyed the food here. These simple food are seasoned to perfection and served piping hot much to our enjoyment, and most important is the price are wallet friendly.

Teow Chew Style Spicy and Sour Soup 潮州式酸辣汤 (RM 12.80) |
Our favourite here would be their Teow Chew Style Spicy and Sour Soup (RM 12.80). You can to choose the types of noodles and what toppings you like to have. Garnished with chives and preserved vegetable, the soup is the key point that whips up the wow factor. It packs a balanced taste between spicy and sour (you get to choose your spiciness level but medium should be great), and induced a warm sensation on your throat and stomach lining upon gulping it. Somehow, this simple dish managed to squeeze into our list of comfort food!
Both rice dish we had were equally good. Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Mustard (RM 13.80) and Steamed Chicken with Mushroom and Chicken Sausage (RM 14.80). The rice was served in a metal plate within a bamboo steamer, and we enjoyed these simple dish that resembles home cooked flavour, which are light & easy.
Overall, dining here is enjoyable and rewarding! The taste of the dishes were just comforting!
