Coffea Coffee @ Automall, Karpal Singh Drive, Penang

KL folks or those who has worked in Kuala Lumpur would not be new to Coffea Coffee. This Korea franchised Cafe has successfully emerged into Malaysia's market in year 2012, and now they have their first outlet in Penang. Strategically located at Automall, just on the second floor above Tomyummy. They have won a number of awards, including the Nicaragua Cup of Excellence last year. The focus of their cafe is only serving great coffee and snacks like pastries, cakes and sandwiches. Thus, you would not find any main courses here. The interior employed much subdues color with wooded furniture and some swing chairs, giving us a sense of homey and cozy.

This is the first time we dine in coffee house without ordering any cakes because we found some interesting pastries in the house. Turkey Ham Quiche (RM 10.90) was the right choice we made. Crispy crust, with creamy and cheesy filling, layered with ham, onion and cauliflower. It was very flavorful.

Scones (RM 8.90) was not overly dry nor moist, not too crumbly either, just nice. We enjoyed the sweet touch from the raisin. However, we find it tasted just great without spreading the apple jam or cream.

They have their own special coffee blending options, which are Maestro and Madonna. Maestro, the taste of Mars, is the strong, full bodied classic American roasting style, blended with dark chocolate undertones. Men from Mars, women from Venus. Of course, they have the taste of Venus too, Madonna. Its employs the sweet European roasting style, where the blend has fruity aroma with a dash of acidity.

Since we like our coffee with stronger taste but in moderate caffeine level, we chose Double Mocha (RM 12.50) with added Maestro Shot (RM 2).

Mango Yogurt Smoothie (RM 14), a very chilling cup of drink with strong mango scent. The smoothie was so concentrated that we find it hard to suck through the straw. It is a great healthy choice of drink to go for if you have caffeine sleeping problem.
