Most Kepala
Batas folks would not be new to this wantan mee at Kafe Kim Leng at Kepala
Batas. In fact, I was introduced to Kepala Batas folks to here. Situated inside
Kim Leng cafe, Kepala Batas folks told me that this stall has been operating
for years and currently the second generation is helming the CEO of the stall.
Kim Leng
wantan mee (RM 3.00) refreshes people’s impression toward wantan mee as its
appearance and the serving mode is unconventional. Presence of more vegetables
and big lard oils could be sighted, with the entire noodles submerged in a pool
of its elusive starchy soup. I call it starchy soup as the texture was more to
moderate watery and flows easily with the noodles. I never seen bean sprouts in
wantan mee before except during this occasion, which I thought was a great idea
as it differentiated the dull biting experience of noodles solely.
According
to the chef, their noodles were actually handmade and the elusive fragrance of
the starchy soup is derived by addition of char siew oil into it. That is why
the fragrance from the starchy soup puzzled me initially as I could not figure
out what was that. Taste wise, indeed it is different comparing to the
conventional wantan mee covered in soy sauce in Penang. As the name wantan mee
suggests, the chef still makes well packed wantan and served it in a different
bowl of soup.
The coffee
shops offers limited parking space in front of it and the patron usually park

your car further slightly at the shop lots and walk about 50 metres to here.
