Laksa & Char Koay Teow @ Sin Hwa, Burmah Road, Penang

We never notice this humble coffee shop every time we pass by Burmah Road, anyway Burmah Road is really a long stretch of road. Here, you can find one of the best Char Koay Teow with their signature addtion of squid. If you are yearning for a bowl of lemak version of laksa, you can have it here without driving all the way to Balik Pulau. However, we prefer their sour version of laksa more.

Alluring Laksa (RM 4) with thick broth which enriched with fish flavor and crunchy biting pleasure from the shredded cucumber. It is one of the best Laksa we have tried in Penang.

We wasn't fond of lemak version Laksa, probably we wasn't used to the combination of coconut milk and the laksa broth. We thought somehow the coconut milk has overwhelmed the laksa original scent.

Check out the differences, left is the Lemak version while the right is the original.

You may add on Poh Piah (RM 1) for your Laksa

We were delighted to find the CKT (RM 5) having squid. He has transformed the CKT into seafood CKT. You will still find the usual ingredients there like big prawns and cockles. Again, we always request for extra spiciness and add on duck egg. The egg were evenly stick onto the koay teow and encapsulate the wok hei. On the side note, we realize the CKT guy has been very close with the Laksa aunty. We saw them make fun of each other. Such a heart warm scene.
