The first times I come across Lorong Seratus Tahun curry mee is actually at Selangor SS2, where I was homesick badly and looking to devour some Penang food then. Back to Penang now, I was tempted to try out the original Lorong Seratus Tahun curry mee. Located at intersection between Lorong Seratus Tahun and Lebuh Nanning. people not familiar with this place will need to drive extra efforts to here. The coffee shop only sell curry mee.
I had a bowl of normal curry mee (RM5.50) and you may choose to add some extra ingredients by forking out extra pennies. The curry mee comes with some small prawns, cockles, bean curd puffs (tau fu pok) and a clear soup. Personally I feel the soup is tasteless but the things changed if you add on their own made chilli paste.
The chilli paste is provided in a stainless steel bowl on each of the table and you may feel free to add on as much as you like. It imparted a smooth and essential taste of what a curry mee should possessed then. It was not really spicy in my thought.
For a price RM5.50, I feel the portion is rather small and even two bowls are not enough to satisfy my stomach. I felt the curry mee was overrated anyhow, it was good but not to the level topping the list of curry mee that I definitely should try if I come to Penang.
Longan drink for RM 2.00. Shredded of longan could hardly be seen in the bottle.
