The 7 colours rice has been a great heat in last two months after someone share it at Facebook Group, PG Food Hunter A Team. We visited once during lunch hour, the queue and scorching sun has lead us dining else where. Last week, they have back into business after renovation. Extra dining space extended outside their shop with roof. Mystery Man and I picked the odd hour to dine in which is around 10 pm to have heavy supper. Guys there are friendly, greeted us with warm smile.
It would be a little tricky to located their shop. If you are using Jalan Tun Dr Awang, coming from the direction of Penang International Airport towards SPICE (formerly know as PISA), Koo Boo Cafe would be at your left hand side. It is right before the traffic light turning right to Jalan Mahsuri, where you find SPICE at your left.

Nasi 7 Benua came with complimentary drinks. We added on Kerabu Timbun, Salty Egg and the recommended Ayam Negro. The whole set for RM 7. We separated the curry in different plate as we want to enjoy the distinctive taste of each type of rice first.
The 7 types of rice from Nasi 7 Benua:
- Nasi Tomato: The Malay's traditional rice from Pahang, usually used during wedding or any Malay's Celebration like Aidil Fitri.
- Nasi Lumani: The dark purple colour rice, some called it nasi lemuni. The colour came from the juice blended from the leave or branches of Lemuni Tree, which is then used to cook with rice.
- Nasi Minyak:Â The popular rice used in Malay's wedding, usually served with ayam masak merah.
- Nasi Kacang: The rice cooked with dhal bean.
- Nasi Hujan Panas: The most appealing rice, some called it rainbow rice because of its colourful appearance. It is the popular between Malaysia and Indonesia.
- Nasi Lemak: The favourite between all races in Malaysia, emitting the fragrance of coconut milk and pandan leaf.
- Nasi Putih: White rice? I believe we Malaysian know it too well.
Each type of rice was carefully placed using small tea cup. |
