All About Sugar and Gift is a dessert shop specialized in Tang Yuan (汤圆), or known as Chinese glutinous ball in English. As Tang Yuan is usually available during winter solstice in Chinese culture, another place apart from Bee Hong cafe and Osmanthus's Hong Kong Dessert to savour this dish would be great.
Tuan Yuan Special, with 5 different tang yuan of your choice |
From top right, the tang yuan's fillings: peanut, durian, coffee, salted & sweet lotus and tiramisu |
Looking at the menu indeed gave us a good impression as they have 14 choices of tang yuan, and all of the choices are unique and hard to resist. Good thing is they offer Tuan Yuan Special (RM5.90), and you can choose to between 3 different types of condiments - white sugar, brown sugar and milk.
After some wavering, we decided to go for peanut, durian, coffee, salted & sweet lotus and tiramisu. The peanut tang yuan is good as the peanut granules were vividly tasted as a whole and has decent peanut smell. Meanwhile, the durian filling tasted similar with durian cakes, while coffee taste like the my childhood's sweet Kopiko. The others 2 were normal though. You may add on different types of tang yuan for RM1 each.
Though we feel a light scent of ginger taste in the condiments but a stronger ginger would be our preference.

Longan Glutinous Rice Soup with Ice Cream (RM5.50) caused a disarray in our mouth upon first scoop due to a mixed of hot and cold feelings derrived from the soup and ice-cream respectively. Other than that, it does not cause an uproar to my taste buds.
The restaurant has a very nice and cozy environment, and best if you want to get a place to be away from your works temporary.
