Elite Avenue has welcomed another new food franchise restaurant -Â BBQ Chicken, Korea No.1 chicken restaurant which expanded exponentially after the first establishment in Korea in September 1995. Currently, BBQ chicken is present with more than 4000 outlets across the region and this is their outlet in Penang.
The marketing forte for BBQ Chicken would be their insistence of using 100% olive oil for frying, which is rumoured as a healthier version of fat due to the presence of monounsaturated fatty acids (calories provided is still the same as normal fat). On top of that, they have a Chicken University in Korea which educates its business associates and conduct continuously improvement on their dishes.
Remarks: 10% off total bill for grand opening, valid till 30 September 2015.
It would be wrong if we never order any dishes associated with chickens. Thus, we go for Golden Olive Chicken (RM 15.90 - 2 pieces; RM 28.50 - half chicken; RM 54.90 - whole chicken). The chicken is marinated in 30 types of natural spices for 12-15 hours. This is evident if you possess a sense of smell alike bloodhound, a faint odour of olive oil and spices could be sensed. The chicken also exhibit tender and juicy meat, and one piece could hardly satisfy our crave for it.
Apart from Golden Olive Chicken, there are other popular choices such as Korean Charboiled, Gangjeong chicken, Jerk BBQ, Hot Hot Drums and etc.

Kimchi Bokkeumbap with Korean Charboiled (RM18.90)Â serves you with a cup of BBQ kimchi fried rice topped with egg with Korean Charboiled chicken. We are not a fan of kimchi but the kimchi fried rice tasted fine for us. Conventional kimchi used to taste funky, garlicky and spicy but conflated it with fried rice making the kimchi tasted modest.Â
The Korean Charboiled chicken is alike the roasted chicken with chicken rice but the one here is much tender, juicy and not oily. The proportion of the lean and fat meat is just well balanced.Â
Korean Tea (RM5.90)
One of the special dish we saw when flipping through the menu. Apart from chickens, customers are offered a variety of dishes such as burgers, paste, pizza, korean pancakes, salad and desserts.Â
The staff was friendly during our visit and patiently attend to our enquiries. However it appeared that some of the staffs were inexperienced and do prepare for chances of hiccups during the dine in.
