英心咖喱面 , Eng Sim Curry Mee is a makeshift hawker at Penang Taman Free School during Nine Emperor Gods Festival in Penang. The makeshift stall has a history of more than 20 years as I recalled trying them when I was small. There is a special note on this stall as it is only available during Nine Emperor Gods Festival, which means there are 9 out of 365 days only in Penang you get to enjoy this bowl of vegetarian curry noodles!

The price of the curry mee here has showed a steadily increase graph. In 2015, a small bowl of noodles cost RM 4 and a big bowl noodles cost RM 5. However, the price seems not to deter an exodus of people flocking the stall and there is always a long queue, all waiting to order the curry mee.
The crowd came for a very solid reason as the vegetarian curry mee here is one of the best we ever come cross. In fact, it is hard to tell the differences between a non vegetarian curry mee available elsewhere to the vegetarian curry mee here, except absence of animals derived components or cockles. Substitution of char siew, a handful of long beans and a generous amount of tau pok are provided to complement the noodles.
We specially like the soup with strong mint flavor and the scent of the curry is further enhanced by curry flowers. It is a tad oily for us though.
The owner of the stall is never ungenerous about their chili paste as you are feel free to add how much as you like. However, do bear in mind that a small spoon of chili paste to your soup is sufficient to make your mouth burning hot!
