It was not long ago since the cafe at G Hotel, Gurney has been refurbished and renamed as Taste Cafe. As some day in October is birthday for Mystery Man, Shirleen planned a surprise buffet dinner at Taste Cafe. It was indeed a satisfactory dinner as the deep sea barbeque dinner buffet (RM150 nett)Ā here akin a mini food fest with limitless flows of extraordinary food.Ā
A vast array of choices of food were offered in the buffet dinner and we ended up gorged ourselves. The food were simply hard to resist in terms of taste and presentation, and the accompanying live band soothing music has provided a more relaxation dining environment.
Unlimited large lobsters at grill section |
The grill section was a corner which most patrons would be looking forward. A variety of seafood such as squids, prawns were available for picking and ultimately there was grilled large lobsters too! The lobsters were lovely as the chef garnished them with a little chilli flakes, giving arise the plain lobsters meat a tad spiciness. The prawns and squids were fresh, manifested by its crunchy, firm and crispy texture.
Cold Seafood section |
The deep sea barbeque dinner theme was further expanded into inclusion of Japanese style in the form of sushi and sashimi. Red octopus, white and red salmon were the pick of our night.Ā

We were surprised to see antipasto corner in the buffet. Antipasto, which carries the meaning "before the meal" in Italian is actually appetizers. A simple marinated vegetables were offered in the dinner, served as some small bites to prepare for a more relaxing dinner time later on.
There was a corner with 4 types of cheese - Parmesan Cheese, Brie Cheese, Edam Cheese and Gruyere Cheese and some nuts at one of the corner. We happily sampled some of them for trial as this was our first times coming across cheese corner.
All the main courses were simply too hard to resist by looking at its mouth-watering presentation. For seafood lovers, do not miss out the chilli crabs, baked mussels, grilled squid with chilli salsa, Ā kong po prawns, curry fish and even seafood lasagne! Well, the waitresses deserve the credits for being attentive as when they spotted we were going to eat crabs, they immediately signalled among themselves and bring a small bowl of lime water for us.Ā
At the end corner of one of the small buffet island, there was a bread section, and 2 types of soup - seafood chowder soup and malay potato soup with beancurd & glass noodles. Seafood chowder soup was indeed rich in zinc and protein as it comes with mussels and prawns!
Not to miss out the dessert section in the end of our meal. We were having a difficulty to pick the dessert as there were too much of choices.
How could we miss out the fun with chocolate fondue? Make a few sticks of fruits and marshmallows, then have fun with them at the fondue fountain.Ā
Our meal for the nightĀ |
A cup of coffee will be served in the end of your meal or anytime upon request.
Ā A complementary strawberry cakes for the birthday boy! Birthday person eat for free on birth date with a minimum booking of 4 adults too. The live band also cheered for us that day, singing the Happy Birthday song when the cake was brought out.
