Tamsui old street and fisherman's wharf is a popular spot for local and tourists. There are numerous shops along the pedestrian's walking area, offering visitors a wide selection of food, entertainment and handicrafts purchase. To get there, take MRT red line to tamsui station, which is located at the end of the line. Sit down and relax for the trip (Remarks: you may be required to change train in the mid to Tamsui)
Walk for about 10 minutes following the signboard upon arrival at Tamsui MRT station and we arrived at Tamsui old street. Actually Tamsui old street was alike a night market with exclusion of street vendors and it operated since morning.
There was a shop named Yeh's Wonton Restaurant and they offered a speciality dish called Jay Chou's set. It was hearsay that Jay Chou used to come here to savour their wonton and chicken thighs, thus the seat meal was named after him.
It was unusual to try such a big wonton with paper alike thin skin and the soup has a natural sweetness. The chicken meat was tender and nice skin, though we enjoyed the side dishes cucumber more.

Randomly spotted this glutinous rice sausage (60 NTD) and it appeared to be like a local popular dishes due. Although it was chewy but it was not really our cup of tea. Interestingly the shop only operate within a tiny space. On top of that, we felt the immense pressure dining here as there were only 4 chairs provided and other patrons were waiting for you to get up for a seat!

The sour plum drink (30 NTD) is available on the same row with the glutinous rice sausage. A good choice to quench our thirst as the sour plum drink was totally different from the usual we had.
Finally we get to taste Taiwan's mochi and we really loved it. There were 2 variety of mochi - hot and cold and we were allowed to pick different ingredients for it. We went for coconut and red bean in cold version (120 NTD) , and the lady boss patiently demonstrated to us the correct way to cut the mochi upon serving.
The mochi was really good as it was soft and with a slight cold sensation. Although it appeared sticky but it taste like pudding instead, and there will not be any residues left in between the teeth.

The weather here was scorching hot thus we went for Taiwan signature milk tea with honey (40 NTD) and a cup of passion fruit (40 NTD). The milk tea was good but the passion fruit seemed to be overloaded with sucrose.
We got to know that iron egg is a popular dish in Tamsui. Iron eggs which are eggs that have been repeatedly stewed in a mix of spices and air dried. The resulting eggs are dark brown, chewy and about half their original size. The famous outlet selling iron egg would be Granny iron eggs but unfortunately they sell at big packets, which we deemed too much for just two of us.
Fortunately we managed to find a small stall by the roadside which sold them by pieces. We sampled one iron egg (10 NTD) and without doubt this was the hardest egg we ever had!
Things did not turn out really well and it started to drizzle thus we sheltered ourselves at 83 coffee, and enjoying a cup of their signature coffee (70 NTD).
There was a cute and sleepy golden retriever on the corridor, with its fur shaved to resemble number "83", which was the shop's name. It was hearsay that most of the fur kids here will have their furs shaved during summer to prevent them from getting heatstroke.

A-Gei is another popular food which originated from Tamsui as well. There are many shops selling A-Gei nowadays and the original shop was located at Zhenli street. We were really unfortunately as the shop was closed during our visit, thus we simply headed to another shop for A-Gei (located same row with the shop selling glutinous rice sausage)
A-Gei is a piece of deep fried tofu which the tofu fillings have been harvested and stuffed with flavoured crystal noodles and sealed with fish paste (surimi). Then it is served with a spicy sauce.
We had A-Gei and the fishball. The condiments gave A-gei a nice taste and the fishball with meat filling was satisfying.
Tamsui old streets and fisherman's wharf are full of food and entertainment stalls. Sometimes, we slightly regretted for not enjoying ourselves thoroughly there by indulging ourselves with the childhood games there, which would be a great chance for reminiscence.
On top of that, cycling is permitted at the pathway along the waterfront. If weather was good and have an extra time to spare, why not try to cycle and enjoy here?
From Fisherman's wharf, we took the ferry across to the renowned lover's bridge. The ferry was payable using EasyCard, though we were confused why the charges to lover's bridge was 50 NTD while coming back to fisherman's wharf was 60 NTD.
Queue up nicely for the boat and stay inside the boat throughout the journey as the waves could be extreme.
Over that side at Lover's bridge, there are plenty of restaurants. We witnessed there was live singing and some great performance by a cat impersonator, whom managed to attract a large crowd.
An exodus of crowd will be always on the lover's bridge. The bridge is illuminated by different color light at night, making it a nice place just to sit down and relax.
Across the bridge there is this iconic LOVE sign. It was almost an automatic response that everyone will snap a picture of the LOVE sign, included us!
It appeared that this is one of the favourite relaxation place for local Taiwan people. People were seen jogging with their dogs and relaxing themselves there.
Since we have nothing much to do, we just have fun and shoot some photos then.
