[TAIPEI 台北] Day 3: Xiao Li Zi 第三天：小李子清粥小菜

Supper was like something that cannot be omitted during our trip in Taipei as the food here was exceptionally incredible for our liking. We purposely took MRT brown line to Technology Building station and head to Xiao Li Zi Restaurant.

宵夜好像是我们这次台北旅行中无法避免的行程，肥就肥吧！因为这里的食物蛮合我们的胃口。我们特地搭褐线捷运到科技大楼站，为了吃远近驰名的招牌老店-小李子清粥小菜。

We were totally surprised as the 2 storey eatery was almost full during our arrival at 10:30pm. Judging by the large crowd at the restaurant, deep in our heart was thinking, it must be good!

我们很吃惊的是这两城楼的餐厅，在我们十点半到来时，座位几乎满了。看在这么多人排队拿食物，我们心想，肯定是好吃的！

There was only a type of food offered here - porridge but the option of dishes were simply amazing.

店名已说明清粥，所以这里就只可以吃粥而已咯，可是也未免太多太多的小菜供我们选择了吧~

With an oval shape table in the centre of the restaurant, an assortment of dishes were displayed and available for our choosing. It may appeared to be a simple process but the variety of dishes really gave us a hard time in choosing, as every dishes looked so tempting for us!

店的正中间有个椭圆形的小岛，放着各式各样的小菜让我们挑。看似简单，但我们却花了很多时间做选择，毕竟我们只是两人吃，而食物样样都看起来很美味。

The server even patiently to respond to our enquiries on the dishes served. What we needed to do was tell them which dishes we wanted and they will make a smaller plate to put on our tray.

庆幸的是招待员很有耐性的一一回答我们的询问，因为他们的菜色并不像马来西亚槟城的潮州粥。告诉招待员我们要的小菜，他们就会把小菜装到小盘里，然后让我们放到我们的托盘。

The verdict? We ordered char siew, meat balls and tofu. All these dishes go well with a bowl of porridge, not too overwhelming nor oily in term of taste. The char siew was not the typical crispy and firm char siew we had but it was more toward a soft and chewy type.

我们最后的抉择：叉烧，肉圆汤和抄豆腐。小菜味道适中，非常适合配粥，还不油腻。他们家的叉烧不是那种扎实的叉烧，但是比较软软有咬劲的那种。

The meat balls have a decent meaty flavour and came with cabbage. Well, the chef really thoughtful and spent efforts in making all the dishes the best companion of a bowl of porridge. If it was meatballs alone, probably it could not blend well with a bowl of porridge but addition of cabbage changed the entire settings.

肉丸的肉味很香，汤里还有煮软了的包菜。我们都很佩服这里的厨师，可以弄那么多适合配粥的小菜。这肉丸汤，就是加了包菜，使得这肉丸小菜很适合伴粥。

Garnished with an overwhelming amount of coriander leaves, the slices tofu gave a boost of flavour to the plain porridge. The softness and smoothness of the tofu was not arguable, and this simple dish was a perfect match to the porridge.

这豆腐小菜用了切片的豆腐和莞茜还有花生一起炒。吃他们的番薯粥，再用筷子一片一片的夹这小菜，很享受耶。豆腐很滑，不会太软，口感很特别。这又是一道绝佳的清粥小菜。

An gigantic pot full with porridge with potato were given to us. The portion could probably served up to 6 or even more bowls of porridge. Sorry we have to waste food tonight by leaving some porridge in the pot.

一大锅的番薯粥和小菜一起上，那粥的份量我们估计可以6人吃。很抱歉，今晚我们得浪费食物，牺牲了些粥。

Total cost was just 290 NTD for a very fulfilling supper. In a restaurant with air conditioner setting, the price was indeed wallet-friendly.

这顿满足和饱足感的宵夜终开销是290新台币而已，而且是在冷气餐厅消费耶。

Actually there was another shop neighbouring to Xiao Li Zi restaurant, naming No Name restaurant and they have the similar settings with Xiao Li Zi restaurant as well. The choice is always on your hands to pick the one that suit you the most.

其实隔壁也有间卖类似的粥，叫无名子清粥小菜。所以呢，你想去哪间，选择在你手中。

On the way back to homestay, we saw a cute dog and a grumpy cat. Silly me to the extent that trying to grab the attention of the cat by giving him a camera.

在回名宿的途中，我们遇到了很可爱的狗狗，还有性情乖戾的猫。笨笨的我们还拿相机去逗那猫儿。
