In my memories, this place used to be a coffee shop housed Dim Sum and some food stalls back then. Mid of last year, this place has been renovated into a spacious food court. They have invited plenty of hawkers over, and now customer can dine in for lunch and dinner with variety of choices to choose in between.
We have been there many times and filtered some great foodies to share here. There are 3 stalls we favour the most - the Sungai Ara Sour & Spicy Noodle, Thai Food and BJG Seafood Stall which operate at night.
Update on Sept 5th, 2017: Chinese Traditional Food no longer sell here; Sungai Ara Food Court has introduced "Hor Kar Sai" drink.
The Food Court recently this interesting drinks, "Hor Kah Sai" which literally means tiger bite lion 虎咬狮 translating from hokkien. It seem to be very popular in Taiping but now it is available in Penang. This catchy drink is believed to be an energy drinks, made up of chocolate and coffee. The taste is indescribably nice and addictive.
(Update on Sept 5th, 2017: they no longer sell here)Â Dumpling Ramen (RM 7) always served with very nice presentation, the colour combination has never failed appetizing me. Bowlful of china style ramen with minced pork, shredded carrot, green leaf, fried egg and 4 big dumplings. The ramen sauce was very unique, it looks like chili oil but taste differently. The dumplings were big, silky thin skin wrapped with generous amount of pork mince at the center. Sprinkle of spring onion to heighten up the flavour. Petite eater may need to share this with others, as the ramen quite fat in term of thickness, and the portion is big so we tend to feel full half way.
(Update on Sept 5th, 2017: they no longer sell here)Â Pork Ribs Ramen (RM 7), instead of dumpling, we now have pork ribs as the star. The rest of the ingredients used are the same with Dumpling Ramen. The pork ribs were braised until soft and flavorful. Just that the consistency of the amount of sauce given can be further improved.Â
Ramens with Coffee.Â
(Update on Sept 5th, 2017: they no longer sell here) On separate visit, we tried their soup with ramen. Out of the 19 choices of soup, we opted for Chicken Soup with Cordyseps and American Ginseng (RM 20). The soup came with the choice of white rice or ramen. The soup was served in earthenware pot to preserve the heat and the essence of chicken and herbs. You may realize next to their store has a super big human size earthen jar to keep these soup, cooked for at least one day. The long hour cooking has made the chicken bone so brittle, gently use our spoon to hit the bone, they were then broken into pieces. In the soup, we found lotsa chicken with little bit of cordyseps, ginseng, longan and wolfberry.
Notes: During weekend, their stewed soup tend to sold out quick in early lunch hour.
10 pieces of fried dumpling cost us RM 8. Crispy thin skin wrapped with well seasoned chicken minced. Similar to the dumpling we had with ramen, just that this was fried instead of steam. Of course, they offers plate of steam dumpling of 10, it is cheaper with just RM 7.
Their dumpling came with chili oil, best to compliment with.
Our meal of the day, stew herbal soup with ramens. The ramens were alot for two of us, we hardly can finish.

Just few store away from the Chinese Soup, there is a stall specialize in Thai food. Thai style vermicelli with prawn (RM 7) served hot on plate, a little bit salty to our liking. We would very much prefer the vermicelli served in claypot. However, the prawns were fresh and quite big in size.
Belacan Fried Rice (RM 7) with aplenty of rice and 4 pieces of belacan chicken. Portion is big for girls.
This Sour & Spicy Mee Hun (RM 8) used to sell at Jalan Tengah coffee shop. They have since move to here after renovated. Business is good as usual but menu has lesser choice now comparing last time. They still keeping their signature style with loads of lemongrass and chili. My practice is always using chopstick to filter lemongrass and chili, by the time the soup temperature already cool down a bit. It would be the best moment to enjoy this spicy exiting noodle soup. Inside the soup, you will find soft tomatoes, cabbage and fried fish as well. The soup has really warm up my tummy.
Belacan Fried Chicken Wing also their hot selling dish, came with minimum 6 pieces per order. Greatly marinated with belacan, not too salty, deep fried till dark golden tone.
Char Koay Teow (RM 5), with extra spicy. This plate of koay teow has ticked the box of wok hei, which is the essential criteria. We like that the chef added in squid to fry with prawn and Chinese sausage. However, the portion was a little small for the meal of lunch.
Char Siew Hong Kong style noodle from the Roasted stall next to Thai food stall. |

Singapore Mee Hoon |
Update on Sept 5th, 2017: BJG Seafood only operate during dinner hour, offering wide range of dishes that wok fried hot for family gathering. Alternatively, there are ala carte dishes for solo eater like us. We have sampled Melaka Noodle and Singapore Mee Hoon, we surfeit with the taste and portion thus make us wish to come back to try the rest.Â
