Coffee Terrace is one of the most spacious dining place in Genting Resorts, offering a choice to savour a decent buffet lunch or dinner at the highest resort in Malaysia. We had a dinner here being hosted by Resorts World Genting after watching a sneak preview by Aaron Crow earlier on the day.
Thanks to Resorts World Genting for hosting us that evening.
The food is segmented into different sections at Coffee Terrace by the cultural traits of the food. There are Flavours of Malaysia, Chinese, Western, Japanese, Western Asian, Dessert and Fruits corner. There were too much of varieties in each of the segment thus we were unable to sample all the food due to limitation in our stomach capacity!
Flavours of Malaysia
As usual, those dishes that we come across daily in our life are here. Chicken rice, prawn noodles, Ipoh hor fun, char koay teow, fried rice satay, ice kacang are found here. On top of that, beef rendang, tofu, prawns and etc which we used to eat daily are found here.Ā
Chinese
We personally think the restaurant has incorporated the Chinese elements well here. What the chef did differently is that we are allowed to pick our choice of food here from chicken, seafood, vegetables, mushrooms and the chef will stir fry it using Chinese style. Every plate is served hot.
Western
As the name suggests, food served in western style such as muttons, chicken chops, nuggets, fish slices are available here. However the taste is just mediocre and some of the meat is not tender, probably due to rigor mortis process.
Nevertheless, the real surprise is the salad section subset to the western segment! When we see the choices of salad available, we were simply amazed!Ā
Japanese
Sashimi, soba, tempura, sushi are here. This section provides a temporary relief to quench the crave of Japanese dishes.
Western Indian
The presence of this section do surprise us actually. We often seen Western Asian food in buffet but usually it is just a subsection, serving roti canai and curries. However at Coffee Terrace, we get to pick between different types of Nan - original, garlic and chocolate, and the Indian spices are offered to spice up the Briyani as well.
Desserts and Fruits
Just like any other buffet restaurants, this is a compulsory section at buffet. The desserts served here are mediocre but it is great to pick some dragon fruits after such a heavy meal we had here.
The chocolate fondue is simply irresistible! It would be better if the cherries from salad section be used with the marshmallows to make the chocolate fondue.
One a side of Coffee Terrace, it is nicely decorated with antique vases and make the whole restaurant classy. We had a very full and enjoying dinner here, and this will be definitely a great spot for dining at Genting!
