Majority of Cafe in Penang won their customers over by possessing an unique theme or exquisite interior design. However, we are more impressed with theirs lavish meals at The Book Sandwich Cafe rather than its design. Located at Beach Street, this cafe themed around books and may escape the horizons if just driving by. The food itself, though priced at a higher range deserve a visit despite difficulties in parking.
We realised the menu and eating culinary have been placed on the tables after walking into the cafe. This is the way how things should work out in normal settings instead of the need to call the server to pass you the menu again.
Scallops, mussels or crabs are normal encounters at cafe but lobsters are a rare species. At The Book Sandwich Cafe, they serve succulent lobsters sandwich (RM 39.80), which sweet lobsters meat are used as fillings for the sandwich bread. Fruits salads and potato chips are served as side dishes. However, do not deceived by the huge crustacean shells on the plate, it is merely just for decoration after the meats were used to fill the sandwich, and you will be lucky if manage to find slices of lobsters meat within the shells.
Meanwhile, Seafood Marinara comes with fish, prawn, scallops, clams, tomatoes concasse and topped with cheese with a price tag of RM24.80, which is pretty reasonable as the quantity of seafood were generous. The spaghetti sauce was a little bit spicy and well marinated with pleasant seafood scent, which is the key scoring point for this plate of spaghetti.
Cafe Mocha (RM 10.80) accompanied with a small piece of sugar cookies.
It was around Christmas by the time we went here and the cafe was lavishly decorated with Christmas decorations at almost all corners.
