Restaurant Roti Canai Jalan Argyll has a long history of selling qualities roti canai, or known as fried pancakes to Penangites. It is hearsay that they have been selling roti canai before Malaysia Independence date, and shifted to current setting after being forced to move out. Dining here is a challenge as the restaurant is always crowded, thus we were lucky to secure a table soon upon our arrival.Ā
Unlike other typical MamakĀ stall which offers various dishes and noodles, they only sell roti canaiĀ with various curries.
The curries was spiced well and amazingly not heavily spiced. On a personal affection, we felt it could be thicker to give a bolder taste.
On top of that, the curries come with big chunk of meat. Get ready for a high protein and high fat diet in the early morning.
The roti canai is great. It is served hot upon cooked, resulted a crispy skin and fluffy inside. A piece of the roti in fact has loaded enough calories for the morning as the portion is reasonably big. Besides, onions in the roti bawang tasted good, juicy and fresh, with no indication it has been oxidized.
