Little Journeyman Cafe @ Jalan A. S. Mansoor, Penang

Little Journeyman Cafe is a new eatery establishment tucked in a rather out of sight street in Georgetown - Jalan A. S. Mansoor, off Jalan Transfer. Recently, they have gained much attention over social media by serving Raclette with Crispy Potatoes (RM 25). Commoners might be puzzled over Raclette, but cheese fanatics would rage here to savior it.

Origin from Swiss and made of cow's milk, Raclette cheese is served in unique way like no others. The single big block of cheese is being heated to melting, then scrapped on the crispy potatoes. Fret not, this task will be catered by the cafe's boss.

The Raclette cheese possess a distinct and sharp taste, and it does not exhibit the "strong" cheesy taste like most cheeses have had. It coagulated and hardened in a matters of seconds upon scrapped on the potatoes. Thus, chip a fraction of the cheese from the mass and cohere it with the potatoes to enjoy it.

This is the crispy potatoes prior having the raclette cheese scrapped on it. Most likely it had been marinated with salt to give it a slight pleasant salty taste.

While most cheeses dishes best paired with a cup of wine, it is unfortunate that wine is missing from the menu.

Other than the raclette cheese, the cafe offers limited selections on their main dishes. We thought of settling with something that could make us feel, and Pulled Pork Panini (RM 19.00) seemed like a good choice. It comes with two slices of grilled sandwich (using bread other than sliced bread) and filled with pork slices, plus a handful of french fries.

The idea of using pulled pork instead of pork cutlet is brilliant, as pulled pork are more tender and served in slices. Rarely we encounter pork served in slices actually. Interestingly, it has a hint of sour taste as well.

The Mocha (RM 12.00) is slightly different from others we had in the other cafe too. Cocoa powder taste is stronger, and the coffee beans used probably was from other sources other than the conventional ones.

The cafe is tucked inside The Museum Hotel, with no obvious signage at the exterior for identification. Extra effort might be needed to locate it. However, the cozy environment in the cafe makes it an ideal place for hangout with your besties in the afternoon, though you might need some luck to get a table as tables are limited.
