Arang Coffee @ Bayan Lepas, Penang

Arang Coffee has been established at Olive Commercial Centre for more than a year and we have heard generally positive reviews on it. As 2016 close by, we thought of striking Arang Coffee off our to eat list. It was a Sunday 4pm afternoon and almost all the tables here were occupied, and we were lucky to grab the final table. The cafe bordered in a styling black and white theme which gives a cozy feeling for an meetup with peers.

The menu cored around Western dishes such as sandwiches, American breakfast, salads, pasta and burgers. Though the Seafood Aglio Olio with squid ink pasta was a sensational hit here as we observed in every tables, we decided to go for Arang Beef Croissant Burger (RM 25).

For just RM 25, the beef croissant burger was definitely a good bargain. The beef patty is served along with a piece of streaky beef bacon, then topped with a sunny side up, cheese and charcoal croissant. Lettuce, gherkins, tomatoes and caramelized onions were used to dress up the patty and finishing with BBQ sauce. The patty was well seasoned to the right taste, succulent and had the beef pungent taste minimized. On a personal experience, I would prefer a more flaky beef patty with crisp crust.

Matcha Crepe Cake (RM 12.50) here is surprisingly toothsome and the cakes layering were well done. Sandwiched between the crepes were red beans which furthered complemented the aromatic matcha flavour. The cake top icing layer was slightly skewed to the sweet side for sweet tooth likers. Somehow we realised, the cakes displayed at the cake cabinet keep changing over time.
