Fancy over having authentic Western dishes cooked by foreign chefs without travelling to there? If the above statement clicks your mind, this small and modest cafe located at Jalan Mahsuri, Bayan Baru should be your destination for lunch or dinner. The cafe - Bouncy Food started the business by selling burgers, and soon the business expanded by getting invited foreign chefs on periodical basis. During our visit, Bouncy Food had a guest chef hailed from Italy, thus a few exceptional items are added to the menu - tagliatelle & gnocchi pasta.
Having said that, the menu will have special dishes from time to time though the usual like burgers, starters, desserts etc will remain. On April, there will be a guest chef from Germany.
Blue Cheese Gnocchi (RM 27) is a seasonal menu item as they had an Italian chef during our visit. Instead of pasta noodles, gnocchi, a type of soft dough dumplings made of flour were used as source of carbohydrate. It is then coated with a creamy and gummy blue cheese, injecting a pleasant and smooth feeling. For a head to head comparison, the cheesy feeling of this plate of blue cheese gnocchi is richer than any carbonara we ever had in Penang. Sprinkles of nuts and peanuts are topping the gnocchi to induce some aromatic scent.
The Blue Cheese Gnocchi must be eaten while it is hot, otherwise the cheese would harden and complicate the eating enjoyment.
Bouncy Gourmet Burger with Salad and Potato (RM 20) is the proud creation of the owner of the cafe. Patties are available in either pork or chicken and. We had a pork patty and it was grilled to perfection. holding more juice and possessing a succulent texture. A quarter-melted aromatic cheese coupled with a runny egg yolk oozing out from side of the burger, covering partial of already well grilled patty. The chef had never been stingy by throwing another 2 pieces of well grilled bacon sandwiched between the burger buns and patty.

We were treated with a Bouncy's Chocolate Mud Cake which is their signature as well. It was akin like chocolate larvae cake except the chocolate layer had been semi-hardened, coating the fluffy sponge cake. Good news is the chocolate cake is produced by Bouncy Food themselves, thus no where else you could find the replication of such amazing taste.
