A more wallet-friendly eatery has recently established its business in Gurney Paragon, the high-end shopping mall in Penang. Featuring a very minimum design, the eatery offers a range of noodles, porridge and steambot for customers. In fact, this eatery is no alien to some in Penang as it had some light reputation in Nibong Tebal and also Farlim before they closed down the Farlim branch.
We often heard Nibong Tebal is famous of seafood porridge so we gave their Fried Fish Porridge (RM 10.90) a try. Unlike congee, the rice still remained intact on its texture and shape after cooking. Add on some pepper to enhance the porridge taste, or make a twist by dripping the unique chili sauce into every spoon of it as suggested by the boss.
Seafood Tomyam (RM 14.90) is served in an unusual large claypot with some seafood such as fish fillets and squids. When we first tasted it, the tomyam just did not taste right with an elusive taste. However, as we continued, the tomyam kick gradually comes. The burning sensation ain't joke and it triggered the sweat ducts to produce a wet face. To enjoy this dish, patience was the key.
We were served a plate of complimentary lobak and we enjoyed the spices scent. Generally, we thought this will be a good spot for a stomach fulfilling lunch or dinner without incurring too high damages on your wallet.
