Warung Tok Mat Mee Udang is a Malay stall well concealed from the public's attention by the seashore of Tanjung Bungah. Bearing the theme "when the river meet the sea", it serves a range of stir fried dishes, noodles and rice based on a seafood theme, while allowing guests to enjoy the breeze and amazing sea view.
It is hard to locate the restaurant if you are not a frequenter to Tanjung Bungah. We lost the tracks for 2 times despite having wording guides available to us. Check out the direction to the restaurant in the bottom of the post.
To dine in here, patient is a must. The chef will take his own time to prepare the best dishes for patrons here. However, rest assured you will be treated with some delicacies. For your information, we waited about 1.5 hours for our 2 bowl of meals with 4 tables served before us.
One of their signature would be their Mee Udang (RM 15.00). With a bowl of the noodle of your choice (yellow noodles, koay teow, bee hun or maggie), topped with 3 big fresh prawns and drenched with prawn scented spicy soup, it is enough to trigger one's appetite for the night. We definitely enjoyed the fresh prawns, but non prawn lovers could opt to substitute it to crabs, squids or mixture of two.
Nasi Goreng Daging (RM 6.00) is equally good. The aromatic beef taste is well infused into the fried rice. Upon finishing, it is garnished with generous quantity of spring onions and fried shallots.
As expected, the drinks were sweet but we reckon that was the norm in any Malaysian dining settings.
