Sae Ma Eul BBQ Korean Restaurant @ Automall, Georgetown, Penang

Sae Ma Eul BBQ Korean Restaurant is the latest restaurant addition to Automall Penang, although its name might not be new to frequent Korean Charcoal BBQ eaters in Klang Valley. They serve some good marinated meats at affordable pricing, and we were absolutely delighted by having dine here during a rainy day.

Despite occupying an open air space on Automall, the breeze from the sea is specially cooling and the restaurant management has prepared the fans to ensure ventilation is well maintained. In fact, we enjoyed the concept of open air space for korean BBQ settings more than those having kitchen exhaust ventilation system.

The promotion runs by the restaurant is very attractive as it comes with 2 sets of meat that can be shared among 2-3 person. However, the A la carte options seems very promising.

We had a set B (RM 69) that comes with Marinated Pork Rib & Pork Shoulder, a bowl of cheese and a can of Hite Korean beer. Upon ordering, the server will come and arrange the charcoal for BBQ, then all the feast can be started.

Fret not if you are not a master of barbecue-ing the meats as the friendly staff is always there to assist you. It is commendable that their service was topnotch and superb. For instance, they attend to us in a very short manner to ensure the meats were properly cooked and changed the aluminium cover once it was full with char.

Both pork rib & pork shoulder are well marinated with special soy sauce that gave it a right and nice taste. Besides, the pork meats are of good quality and possess the right texture for the eating pleasure.

The refillable side dishes such as kimchi, long beans, pickled cucumbers serve as good appetizers or something nice to chip in between the carnivorous diet. Alternatively, wrap the meat with the side dishes to provide a much balanced nutrients for the night. Well, just eat that as much as you could.

There comes the latest trend in social media. Everything related to cheese also has to be pulled to the maximum!

The complimentary cheese bowl in Set B was grilled with charcoal so it could be coated with the meat to give it the nice cheesy feeling. Otherwise, just order a bowl of cheese for RM 13. Trust us, the taste well justified the RM 13 spent.

We had a bowl of Kimchi Stew (RM 16). It was served hot and best for the chilling night. However, we would prefer if the kimchi imparts a stronger taste to the soup.
