So Thaisty is an eatery selling Thai oriented food, well enshrouded on the alley (Lintang Mayang Pasir 4) behind Bayan Baru market. Featuring a simple menu with a few selections of Thai noodles, rice and snacks, it provides a decent place for Penangites to satiate the crave of Thai Food as the taste was intimately connected to the Thai essence, somehow on relatively wallet-friendly price tags. Moreover, the cafe is operated by Muslim, giving an extra options for Muslim community to enjoy some Thai delicacies in Penang.
Kindly be noted if you were to dine here, the cafe has a customary rule to remove your shoes prior entering.
During our lunch there, the cafe owner patiently detailed to the bits of every dishes to us, making us easier arrive to our choice - the conventional Pad Thai (RM 8.00). It is somehow prepared well resembled to the versions we had in Thailand, possessing chewy noodles with juicy bean sprouts and prawns. Various seasonings such as sugar, peanut flakes and chili powder are provided for diners to tune the Pad Thai to desire flavors, while sprinkles of lime juices would be suffice to introduce the racy sensation. On a personal preference level, I would prefer the Pad Thai to be cooked in wetter state.
Bamee Hang Yum Khai (RM 7.00) uses wantan mee alike noodles with a spicy sensation. The noodles' texture were good, and we stir the soft boiled eggs altogether with the noodles to yield a creamier and aromatic taste. It is served along with some chicken slices, balls and vegetables. Add some soup to the noodles if you feel the overall mouth-feeling is too dry.
At Thai Thaisty, drinks are to be ordered separately at the drink counter which offers a variety of Thai tea. Priced at RM 5 per bottle, the serving size is gigantic and we would recommend two people to share a bottle, otherwise you will end up like us having a sugar rush for the afternoon.
Motorcyclist can take-away the drinks without having stepping into the eatery as they have an open windows that caters for "drive through".
