We always thought hotels restaurant are well known for serving buffet style dining and not aware of their ala-carte dishes. However, during our recent our outings to Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang after their Global Wellness Day, we had opportunity to dine in at The Spice Market. We were simply delighted by the awesome ala carte dishes they serve here.
The appetizer Smoked Salmon Salad (RM 47) is a great representation of fine dining. The smoked salmon is nicely rolled with salad vegetables stuffed within, resembles a blossoming flower. It was served along potato salad, capers and honey mustard sauce. Most importantly, the freshness of salmon is guaranteed with a tad buttery and melt in seconds in mouth.
We thought it will be just another bowl of La Mien when we ordered the Spicy and Sour "La Mien" Noodles (RM 38) but we were proved wrong. Other than big in size as the bowl of noodles is bigger than a face, the spicy and sour sensation is fine tuned and well balanced to perfection. It is served along with mushroom, shredded chicken and noodles created by the chef hailed from Shandong. The La Mien noodles texture were great, exhibiting great texture and not too hard nor too soft. Mix every scoop of the noodles with the special condiments given to fully unleash its taste.
For some western dishes selection, their Salmon Fillet (RM 80) nicely fit into the selection. The fresh salmon fillet is sitting on layer of potato salad, and cravings slices by slices of the salmon to fully enjoy your dining session.

Ice Coffee Viennese (RM 19) |
Some of the drinks we had. After this dining session in The Spice Market for their Ala-Carte dishes, we started to think perhaps their Char Koay Teow here would be one of the best in Penang as well. Everything seemed so delicious over here!
