Tokyo Yakitori is a sister restaurant to the prestigious Japanese restaurant housed within Cititel Penang - Kirishima. Kirishima offers exquisite and premium Japanese dishes on a high price tag, while Tokyo Yakitori is more catered for a general public market with a wallet-friendly price tags. On our observation during dining here, it appears that the restaurant is well preferred by patrons as a place for drinking sake, with its bar and the alfresco area has higher seat occupancy than the dining area.
Wagyu, Salmon Bacon, Tsukune |
Tokyo Yakitori offers 2 pages full of skewers selection on their menu, pampering the sake drinkers with a wide selection of snacks during drinking session. We thought the skewers are nicely done and grilled to perfection, and it was fine tuned to match the authentic Japanese serving style by offering the choices of either sweet or salty sauces for Tsukune.
Meanwhile, the Sushi Ramen set is a real bargain with the price tag of RM 23. It comes with a bowl of ramen, a sushi roll and 4 pieces of salmon, which is an offer that nowhere else can get. However, the quality is slightly compromised, especially on its salmon sushi whereby it was thinly sliced and not exhibiting the pleasant salmon scent.
Meanwhile, the ramen delivers a nicely seasoned flavor though the portion is relatively small comparing to the usual ramen we had. However considered that it was RM 23 only for the whole set, the ramen was considered as too generous in fact.
