Nasi Lemak (RM 7.90) |
Claypot Tofu Rice ( RM 8.90) |
Xiang Yun's vegetarian Nasi Lemak is pleasant on the visual with the fun colours combination. They have brilliantly replace the anchovies with mushroom stem that almost deceive us in term of texture. While the "fish" is made with soy pulp and seaweed, the elusive sambal is a great compliment with the coconut rice.
Bak Kut Teh served as another signature to represent Malaysian cuisine here. The ingredients been used here pretty simple, a jumbo of mushrooms, tofu, Chinese lettuce and woofberry. However, the soup exuding gentle herbal scent with soothing peppery touch.
Teow Chew Steam with white rice (RM 8.90) |
Vietnamese Noodle (RM 9.90) |
As the name of TeowChew Steam hinted, this vegetarian soup is inspired from the popular TeowChew fish dish. The "fish" been used here is made from soy and seaweed as well, but accompanied with more green. While this clear soup posses mild sour kick, you may opted for Vietnamese Noodle if you prefer more spicy and sour excitement.
Indian Curry Rice (RM 8.90) |
Hainan Chicken Rice (RM 7.90) |
Perhaps comforting soup isn't what you are looking for, try out their Indian Curry. Rich and bold lemak curry made from spices, very appealing on the palate as well to go with rice. The Indian's yellow cabbage is a must to compliment with, and the papadum just perfect the dish.
Next we tried was their Hainan Chicken Rice. Their own-made vegetarian duck is crunchy and flavourful. Add on a bit of the chili on the ginger rice to bring you the spicy and sourly touch. Though the taste not much close to the real Hainan Chicken rice, but it an interesting creation.
Salsa Cutlet (RM 16.90) |
Supreme Carbonara (RM 17.90) |
It is usually rare to find vegetarian dishes in western cuisine, but Xiang Yun offers 12 choices here. Like the common western dishes you have seen, the cutlet come with salad and fries (child would love this dish) The different is that the cutlet used here is soy base to represent fish, topped with appetizing salsa sauce made from the key ingredient of tomato. Try savour the cutlet with the pineapple slice and you will be surprised. Pasta lover shall check out their Supreme Carbonara that came with crispy deep fried "meat" that akin Japanese tonkatsu.
Soy Satay (RM 8.90) |
Mushroom Soup |
Five Herbs Vege Roll (RM 9.90) |
There is an occasion when you just crave for nibbling, then there are aplenty of choices here. Their Soy Satay has been made to looks like satay, and taste like satay. Peanut satay sauce is evenly coating the satay to give you mouthful of nutty aroma.
Xiang Yun's Five Herbs Vege Roll is actually vegetarian Lobak (Penang's way of calling) While the common recipe is using yam with five herbs powder, the roll here add on sengkuang and konjaku jelly for more crunch and chewy.

We do not expect vegetarian coffee and chocolate to catch up the trend, but Xiang Yun come out vegetarian coffee that served with latte art that make it picturesque for your social media posting. For vegan, you can opted for soy milk as replacement. Among we have tried, we really love the Salted Caramel as it provides more flavourful and aroma savoury than the Latte.
