Gayo, your next picturesque check-in point for coffee, and spoiled with cakes and pastries.
This cafe is one of the latest to join the coffee trend in Penang, located at the prominent spot on Beach Street and just few steps away from the bicycle mural art at Armenian. While still preserving the heritage structure, Gayo has really spent extra effort uplift the whole space to be a warm and cozy space with wooden design. The old tree clinging on the wall at the courtyard area even liven up the space for serene and greeny atmosphere. For cafe hoppers, Gayo has installed plenty of power plug for you to work with your laptop.
They basically has everything on the drink menu, from coffee to frappe to wine. When come to main course and desserts, the price is slight above average. Dessert lovers would certainly pampered with the choices of cakes and pastries available here. With the long operating hours here with attentive service, this serve a great spot for meet up and chill at any time of the day.
During our first visit was during the high tea hour, therefore only able to put in some snack into our tummy. We are looking forward to check out their main on next visit.
Salted Caramel Macadamia Cheese (RM 16) |
Cappucino (RM 11) |
After I have placed my order for Cappuccino, I was sort of hesitating on which to pick from their large choice of cakes and pastries showcased in the glass counter. The guy from Gayo took the initiative and suggested me having Salted Caramel Macadamia Cheese cake to complement my coffee. I took his suggestion and it turned out to be a wise choice. Take a sip of coffee and grab a small bite of the cake, then experiencing the bitterness from the Cappuccino to break the sweetness of the cake. To be frank, this cake is rather sweet to enjoy on its own, but then it goes well with the Cappuccino.
