When many tourists influx Penang Island to savour the so famous Transfer Road Roti Canai (which we felt it was cut-throat price), there is another awesome neighbourhood roti canai located at Jalan Gemas. It gets crowded every morning, then with the narrow and cramped settings, having a breakfast here might be uncomfortable but rest assured you will be served one of the best roti canai in Penang.
If you order a piece of plain roti canai here, there is a high chance you will get your piece of roti canai fully drenched with its savoury curry, which we felt it kills the originality and crispiness of the well dough Indian pancake. It is best eaten with the curries separated, then drizzle a spoonful of curry on top of the fragment of the roti canai to savour the best of both roti canai and the curry.

We loved the exceptionally crispy roti canai here and its flavourful curry, albeit it was a tad salty. The Roti 1 Malaysia is in fact roti bakar and it was well toasted to a fluffy texture.
