Merry Me @ Gurney Paragon, Penang

Signature Gula Melaka (RM 18), a truly Asian delight has been creatively churned out to bring the appreciation of Melaka's pure palm sugar to another level, on top of its picturesque display. The dessert is constructed with black pearl as the base, layered with crispy rice, then topped with chewy rice ball, homemade waffle cone, and of course a huge scope of homemade gula Melaka ice cream. The saliva unconsciously drools when imagining the wonderful marriage of the chewy and crispy texture, along with sweet and milky sensation in your mouth.

Croffle - A Croissant or Waffle?

What about croissant that looks like waffle? By pressing and heating their own-made croissant in the waffle iron, the richness of the butter is elevated after the compression. Ooooolaf (RM 23), the giant of the the Croffle series, came with 5 scopes of ice cream: Chocolate, Vanila, Gula Melaka, Matcha and Coconut.

Waffle and ice Cream, unbeatable classic

Light and fluffy Belgium waffle, with crispy skin, paired with 3 scopes of ice cream make it a wonderful tea snack and might fill up your stomach a tad more than regular snacks. Merry Me made it even interesting with their Campfire Monkey (RM23). The name "Campfire" derived from the arrangement of  chocolate wafer rolls mimicking a campfire construction, surrounded with banana which is "Monkey" favourite. The ice cream we had was chocolate, gula melaka and coconut, and of course you are feel free to pick your favourites. 

Kakigori the Japanese Shaved Ice

The Japanese dessert wave, Kakigori has swam over across Malaysia and Merry Me would challenge your perception and broaden your palates on Tiramisu, with the introduction of their Tiramisu Kakigori (RM 17) The shaved ice here is made of pure coco powder with a little bit of water, which then topped with coffee cloud and chocolate chips. If you prefer a more chocolaty version, feel free to add on the melted chocolate.

Freakshake, aint just a milk shake

The usual perception we had on milkshake was a cup of cold beverage with blended milk, ice cream and topped with syrup but Merry Me has taken their milkshake to another height. Do not freak out when your Merry Me's cup of milkshake came with plenty of topping. For instance, Gula Melaka Espresso (RM 19), is a fusion of Melaka delight and western. Take a deep suck to enjoy a mouthful of milkshake and black pearl, savour the flush of Gula Melaka fragrance that ended with Espresso aroma. Their freakshake will keep you busy because there are so many items in a single dessert. Nibble bit by bit of their topping made of ownmade chocolate banana cake, ownmade cookies and marshmallow.

Relish the Unicorn in You

The Unicorn (RM 15) cake is such a symbolic dessert to describe Merry Me, especially their brand's logo with unicorn. The wonderful colours of this cake shall steal every girls' hearts, and it came with their ownmade macaron too.
