Nested within a heritage boutique hotel, Yeng Keng Café Bar offers classic colonial cuisine with Hainanese origin. The Hainanese are migrants from Hainan province in China and they dominated the chef's role in army cookhouses and hotels during the colonial era, becoming an adept in Hainanese-Western cooking.
Yeng Keng Café is a true gem in the town, serving Hainanese delights which is a rare find in present days. Among the signatures here are Hainanese Chicken Chop, Gulai Tumis Ngo Wa Hoo, Jiu Hoo Char (fried Jicama with shredded cuttlefish) and Bombe Alaska.
Private functions, wedding and corporate dinners can be arranged on the first floor on the restaurant with customized menu. Another place to sample Hainanese cuisines in Georgetown will be Hai Nan Town at Weld Quay.

Tucked away in a small alley off Lebuh Chulia with austere facade and faded signboard lies a Nyonya kuih factory - Moh Teng Peow, which dished out supplies of various Nyonya kuih to a lot of sellers during its prime time. However as the bicycle Nyonya kuih sellers reduces, their sales dwindled as well.
Later on, Moh Teng Pheow returned to their heyday when people begun to spot them. Nowadays they are selling about 20 varieties of scrumptious Nyonya Kuih here, alongside with Nasi Lemak, Nasi Ulam, Laksa and etc. Do check out this easy overlooked corner for some of the best classic of Penang cultural food.

The Ais is a humble family owned business that sells homemade ice cream. They are a citation of successful homemade and creative business model, whereby it all started from Facebook to market their homemade ice cream to various cafes in Penang and expanded to a physical shop today.
Currently the shop offers 16 selections of freshly homemade ice cream without addition of MSG, flavouring and colouring. Liquor ice cream is available too.

Wai Kee Char Siew
Wai Kee is a popular destination by the locals for both lunch and dinner. It is renowned for serving one of the best Char Siew (barbecued pork) in the town. The Char Siew was perfectly marinated and caramelized, with a slight crunchy texture on the texture and a tad burnt to enhance it taste.
