The Ais, Homemade Ice Cream @ Chulia Street, Georgetown, Penang

The Ais is a humble family owned business that sells homemade ice cream. They are a citation of successful homemade and creative business model, whereby it all started from Facebook to market their homemade ice cream to various cafes in Penang and expanded to a physical shop today.

Currently the shop offers 16 selections of freshly homemade ice cream without addition of MSG, flavouring, colouring and everything is freshly made. Liquor ice cream is available too. As times goes by, the ice cream selection will be expanded as everything is pending the research and development by the family. As far as we are aware, Softserve soon will cement a place on their menu.

When you walked into their outlet, do not be deceived by its small space available on the ground floor. There is a spacious and more comfortable on the second floor for you to enjoy the homemade ice cream.

Depending on your preference, you could have the ice cream served in a cone, a cup or with waffle together.

Hojicha
Salted Caramel
Rum & Raisins (liquor)
Redwine Cranberry (liquor)
Nutella Guiness (liquor)

Personally, salted caramel and Redwine Cranberry are our favorites, particularly Redwine Cranberry as this flavour is one of the unique type of ice cream we have sampled. Taste is very subjective though, so you may sample the ice cream first prior ordering to see which is your favourite.

Waffles here serves as a good choice to go with the ice cream too. It is soft and well bodied, then goes very well with the chilling ice cream.

If you really have a sudden crave of The Ais ice cream, try be there early as some flavour might run out in the late evening and ended up with a disappointed night.
