"Treasures of a Straits Chinese" Art Exhibition by Tiffany Choong @ G Art Gallery, G Hotel Gurney, Penang

Tiffany Choong, an inspirational illustrator and pop artist from Penang is showcasing her black and gold strokes of Nyonya motif masterpiece from her first solo art exhibition "Treasure of a Straits Chinese" in G Art Gallery at G Hotel Gurney from 1 February till 30 April 2018. As of today, many of the wonderful art pieces have found a new home, thus hasten your foot steps to have a glance at the beautiful artworks before more are gone.

With Tiffany Choong

A little background on Tiffany Choong, who was born in the a complex household of strong Chinese traditions in Penang. She led a wanderlust lifestyle and curiosity for new experiences and this has taken her to different parts of the world, which including studying and working experiences in UK, France, Tanzania and Singapore. She is a double degree holder in French and Interior Design.

Her passion and discovery about her art style did not happen overnight. It was through her sketchbook project that she sketched animals, flowers and everyday objects for 4 years and more than 1000 sketches, art has become an element which cannot be departed from her life.

Tiffany's work is primarily inspired by the roots in Peranakan culture thus her works focuses on the popular Nyonya motifs in black and gold. This invites her viewers to rediscover and appreciate these visual symbols in a modern context. She also does mural drawings and one of her first murals can be seen on the famous Lebuh Stewart in Penang and is known as Steward the seagull.

Tiffany's art exhibition with the theme "Treasures of a Straits Chinese" was launched on 1 February 2018 and scheduled to run till 30th April 2018. During the launching at G Art Gallery, she detailed about her art and also performed a short launching gimmick, which is writing a short inspiring notes on her sketch.
