Apart of serving as a cafe and a coffee roaster, SiTigun Cafe which is snugged at the cozy corner of Nagore Square also serves as a pit stop for bicycle enthusiasts. Considered as one of the pioneer cafe in Penang, SiTigun Cafe was established by Tigun Wibisana and his wife, Sandra, after he has traveled miles in the world using bicycle. That is why he suggested you to leave your car behind once a while, and ride your bicycle over here while enjoying the beauty of Penang en route.
Unlike regular cafes that offers mostly Western-centric dishes, SiTigun makes a different approach by serving some Indonesian influenced culinary such as Gado-Gado, Soto and etc, on top of the existing pasta and pastries.
SiTigun coffee also gives a cozy environment for a laid back afternoon, and you can get some Instagram worthy shots here with the woody environment coupled with some greens.
Croissant with Smoked Salmon (RM 20) |
Apple Pie (RM 14.50) |
Apple Pie was something outstanding in terms of the taste due to the vivid layering texture. Apples can be tasted in every layer of the pie, something similar to a crepe texture.
For Croissant with Smoked Salmon, we are required to slot in the smoked salmon together with cream cheese to the croissant. Taste wise was alright.
Sodapresso (RM 11.50, left); SiTiGun Ice Blend Coffee (RM 11.50, right) |
The coffee here primarily used coffee beans originating from Sumatra, giving a bolder taste comparing to the coffee we have in other cafes in Penang. Sodapresso is an interesting combination by having soda introduced to the espresso, giving a gassy beverage which particularly chilling during scorching hot weather.
