There is a Malay hawker stall by the roadside located opposite of Masjid Bandar Bayan Baru which appears to have a decent crowd dining whenever we drove by during lunch hour. Out of curiosity, we stopped by here for a lunch and was impressed by the array of dishes displayed. On top of the regular fares such as fried chicken, vegetables and fish, we were surprised to find the shop operators were busy grilling ayam panggang madu and ayam panggang merah at one corner.
Just like any standard Malay warung, feel free to pick any dishes you like and pay at the other counter. Ayam Panggang Madu / Merah seems to be a popular item here as almost all the patrons will pick it, apart of ikan sumbat sambal which is another item that caught our attention.
Our meal for the day cost RM 20 along with a cup of teh tarik, which we felt pretty reasonable considering there are 2 pieces of chickens, fish, brinjal and water spinach. Both fried chicken and Ayam Panggang Merah are well executed, possessing succulent texture and delicious in taste. Though Ikan Sumbat Sambal is small in size but we love the sambal, which is well balanced between sweet and spicy.
Overall, this unnamed Malay stall serves as a good place for a quick lunch with delicious dishes.
