PepperSalt Restaurant is a low key cafe hiding at the quaint Amoy Lane, just neighbour to the bustling Hutton Lane. The restaurant bears a tagline "carnivorous restaurant" but in fact they serve an inexpensive menu skewed toward breakfast such as sandwiches and burgers. The simple and homey ambiance make PepperSalt restaurant an ideal place for a nice breakfast without causing a wallet hemorrhage.
The food served here, as the restaurant name suggests, mainly relies on pepper and salt for seasoning as we tasted. Bacon Cheeseburger (RM 12) has housemade Treacle Bacon, caramelized onion, mozzarella, cheddar topping the 150g pork batty and sandwiched by garlic toast bun. The combination worked well, in particularly caramelized onion did give it a twist by reducing the greasiness of pork patty. Heavy garlic scent could be tasted from the buns as well, and may cheered by those who are garlic fans.
We topped up RM 7 to have the bacon cheeseburger served with cheese fries and a cup of white coffee. Not a bad deal though.
Salmon Smoked Croissant (RM 10.90) has nice smoked salmon sandwiched in between nicely executed croissant, along with cream cheese and raw onions. We liked the way the croissant was baked, which was crispy outside and fluffy inside. Smoked Salmon is a good deal as it was served with a cup of brewed coffee complimentary.
Overall, the inexpensive price tags by PepperSalt restaurant with above average food makes here an ideal place to stop by, should you prefer an option with less conventional Chinese style breakfast menu.
