Chapati is one of the staple food in Penang. This flatbread is often eaten along with curry or dahl and some accompanying dishes such as mutton, sardines, chicken or beef to make it a complete dish. At Lebuh Ah Quee in Georgetown, Maj Chapati serves one of the best chapati in the town.
Business is brisk at Maj Chapati as the chef here was seen non stop rolling chapati to fulfill the needs of the customers here. The chef is skillful to roll out a piece of fluffy and soft chapati that is really delicious. We opted for curry chicken to go along with the chapati and it was a great choice. The curry was nice with a decent creamy and spicy taste, making a good condiment for the chapati. In fact, we wished we had more curry..
As for the fried chicken, we felt the texture was too hard, marination was not nice enough and we did not really enjoyed it. Therefore, we ended up putting curry to the fried chicken as a compensation.
The crews at Maj Chapati speaks a very strong Indian accent English and made us stumbled into some difficulty when conversing with them. Service was slow too but it was worth the wait for the awesome chapati!
