It is not the regular Pan Mee you would have expected at AhMa Pan Mee 阿嫲刀麻切. Over here, the Pan Mee is prepared using their family recipe originates from Raub, Pahang, offering uniqu homemade hand cut noodles with unparalleled al-dente texture. Furthermore, the focus of the restaurant on healthy preparation method - less oil, less salt has garnered a staunch supporter since its inception.
The menu here is simple. There are only 6 mains and 6 snacks, save you the hassle from getting into a conundrum what to pick for lunch or dinner.
Dry AhMa Pan Mee (RM 7.90) |
Curry AhMa Pan Mee (RM 7.90) |
Hua Diao Marinated Pork Belly with Rice (RM 7.90) |
All the 6 mains are priced at RM 7.90, a very fair price considered it is a simple yet air-conditioned restaurant. We tried Dry AhMa Pan Mee and Curry AhMa Pan Mee, and absolutely loved its unique noodle texture - solid yet al-dente. We personally enjoyed the dried version due to the perfectly balance seasoning that yields an aromatic flavour - not too heavy nor too light.
For your information, real emphasize is being put on their ingredients. Other than the noodles, tThe minced meat are prepared by themselves too to ensure the quality and the taste fits the expectations.
While I was expecting a thick coconut scent flavour from the curry version, I got a well balanced and just nice curry soup that compliments the Pan Mee well. The chef feedback it was purposely done such a way as less coconut milk was used, resulted a healthier version of curry soup.
If you are not a noodle person, then there are 2 rice options to fit your appetite Opt for the Hua Diao Marinated Pork Belly with Rice which has a nice aroma and generous portion of ingredients - RM 7.90 for handful of pork belly and hard boiled egg. A true bargain indeed.
Deep Fried Homemade Fish Tofu (RM 8.90) |
Fermented Bean Curd Marinated Pork Belly (RM 15.90) |
One of the interesting snack we had during our visit was Deep Fried Homemade Fish Tofu (RM 8.90) that exhibits an unique taste and texture. Much to our amaze, it tasted like fish ball yet feel like tofu sometimes, and it smells like the fragrant iconic Terengganu Malay snacks - keropok lekor.
Another snack that could not go wrong is Fermented Bean Curd Marinated Pork Belly (RM 15.90).
AhMa Pan Mee also pays extra attention to their drink choices. We loved their Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice (RM 6.90) and Honey Lemon (RM 5.90), which is made from orange juice solely (we requested not to have sugar added) and quality honey. Otherwise, get a Honey Herbal Jelly (RM 6.90) to chill down your body after a heavy meal such as the Curry Pan Mee.
The restaurant also features a range of homecook drink in bottles that you can take away in case you cannot finish it.
