Gohaniku is a new outlet branched offering a different food concept from its mother company - Spade's Burger. In Japanese, Gohaniku literally means rice (gohan) and meat (niku), and it set to offer gourmet-level rice bowls that does not cost much. Its concept is similar to Poke bowls, though the varieties here is skewed toward the savoury version and focus on meat (less healthy if compared to the conventional poke bowls, but sometimes who cares?). The menu is simple and straight, and price is kept around RM 10 to make it wallet-friendly.
Usage of Japanese rice grains in all bowls served here is a worthy mention. To try everything in one go, the signature Gohaniku Bowl (RM 9.90) is a great choice as it features everything - crispy pork, chicken slices, mushrooms, edamame and half boiled egg. Overall the mixture work well but it would be better if the crispy pork has a softer texture. On the other hand, Salted Egg Crispy Pork (RM 10.90), which you can opt for chicken slices as well (higher price) had the rice bowls topped with crispy pork glazed with salted egg sauce. A more savoury option, and more sinful as well, it fits those who has a carnivorous diet.Overall, Gohaniku is a good option for some quick fix of lunch or dinner, and the selections are above average and wallet-friendly in the air-conditioned setting.
