高佬冰室云吞面和港式餐点 Gou Lou Wan Thun Mee Hong Kong Style @ Lebuh Carnavon, Georgetown, Penang

Gou Lou Wan Thun Mee 高佬云吞面 is a big name for Wan Thun Mee lovers, and their regular followers would know they have moved to Lebuh Carnavon from the previous site at Jalan Kampung Malabar. They serve Hong Kong style Wan Thun Mee, featuring al-dente noodles alongside with rich filled and unpretentious wan thun, and this is how it has garnered its followers. As usual, two versions are available - dry and soup (RM 6.00 / small). Apart from serving Hong Kong style Wan Thun Mee, their shop design also mimics the island typical features - narrow lane, pack, small and uncomfortable. However, the crowd here is immense thanks to the great wan thun mee offered here.

The dry version is drenched with think and starchy gravy, while the soup version is served with conventional wan thun mee savoury soup. Personally, the al-dente noodles are an enjoyment in biting, and I would prefer the soup version over the dry one, as I am not a real fan of starchy gravy wan thun mee. However, this is a pretty subjective matter and it should up to individual's preference.

Anyhow, the wan thun here is made from rich ingredients, as we can still taste the fresh prawns and meat fillings. It definitely deserves to be classified as "wan thun", compared to many stalls outside that serves wan thun with a nip of meat covered with wan thun skins.
