Right beside Fuller Hotel in Alor Setar, there lies Hoya Japanese Restaurant seemingly to be a very high-end Japanese eatery. It comes to our surprise that the quaint Alor Setar town hosts such an exclusive restaurant. Upon stepping into the restaurant, we observed there is a plaque bearing the signature of ex-Kedah Menteri Besar, Ahmad Bashah, that appeared to solidify the restaurant status. However, the price range here is acceptable and not exorbitant as we thought, while food quality wise is alright, and the authenticity remains an unknown.
Fuji (RM 39.80) - eight kind of sushi and salmon uramaki |
Salmon Belly (RM 24.80) |
Chicken Katsu Don (RM 22.80) |
As per usual visit to Japanese restaurants, we ordered their sushi plate, which is named as Fuji (RM 39.80) that features eight kind of sushi and salmon uramaki, and a plate of Salmon Belly (RM 24.80) to attest the taste, thought we are not in any status to judge whether it is authentic or not. Nevertheless, both did please us in terms of taste and freshness.
Chicken Katsu Don (RM 22.80) is equally good as well. It is served with nicely fried chicken cutlet, topped with egg that gives a rich taste that is appeasing.
