Rollney Cafe @ Leith Street, Georgetown, Penang

Rollney was such a craze when it first opens. The humble cafe serves kürtőskalács, a Hungarian iconic treat that has a special type of chimney cakes baked over an open fire, then sprinkled with all sorts of sweet toppings and filled with creams. To accustomize to Malaysia's tropical weather, Rollney substituted the creams with chilling ice creams instead, featuring 2 different types of flavour that will change every 2 weeks.

A plus point for Rollney is that every kürtőskalács is freshly made upon order, and you can witness the entire baking process in the open concept kitchen. Nevertheless, the kürtőskalács in Rollney has a slight deviation from the original variant. The cream filling inside the cone was substituted with ice cream instead. Personally, this seemingly smart move to appease the appetite of Malaysians who prefer something chilling has a negative offset as well, as it soften the inside part of the cone to an unappetizing extend, at least for us. Nevertheless, the whole execution of the kürtőskalács is nicely done: exhibiting a crisp outer crust with beautiful toppings, just nice sweet sensation and not over surfeiting (if you share between 2 person or more).

Overall, it is a place for very Instagram worthy food shot with the different toppings and ice cream, apart from enjoying a decent dessert.
