Sushi Kappo Miyasaka @ Pulau Tikus, Jalan Burma, Penang

There are dozens of Japanese cuisine restaurants in Penang. As time goes by, some closed down while some further solidified their position in the market. One of the Japanese restaurant that existed for a long time is Sushi Kappo Miyasaka at Pulau Tikus. It is run by Japanese and has a Japanese style interior & exterior. When we though the price would be exorbitant, we were pleased to discover the menu is moderately priced and affordable.

We were never a fan of Soba but the Green Tea Noodles with Tempura (RM 36) here totally changed our perception. Served cold, the green tea noodles are to be dunked into the soba tsuyu that gives it a light sweet taste. The tempura served was delicious and coated with a very thin layer of dough, rendering us can taste the filling directly.

Sushi Kappo Miyasaka also run an affordable set lunch menu for RM 19.80 that comes with a miso soup and green tea. We had Deep Fried Pork with Egg Sauce and the combination was nice. The rich taste from the taste blended well with the deep fried pork, complementing the Japanese grains nicely. Sprinkles of plum powder are presence on top of the bowl of Japanese rice, an indicator to show how the Japanese serves their rice, and another way - the authenticity of the restaurant too.
