1. Enjoy a cup of Hor Ka Sai (虎咬狮)
The famous drink - Hor Ka Sai is a must try here! A concoction made up of Milo and Coffee, this drink gives a real "gao" kick. for just RM 2.30 per cup. Check out this drink at Kean Seng Lee Cafe (建成利茶室) at Bagan Seberang Kuala Kurau by crossing the concrete big.

One of Kuala Kurau local introduced us to another Hor Ka Sai which we fall in love unconditionally for it! Apart from the expected Milo and coffee taste, it has an elusive scent of Nestum and we witnessed how complicated was the process in making a cup of great Hor Ka Sai. Check out the Crazy Coffee (疯狂咖啡) here too!

2. Feast upon a galore of hawkers fare
Kean Seng Lee may be renowned for brewing cups of decent Hor Ka Sai but you can enjoy a selections of great seafood here. There are prawn fritters, crabs, mantis prawns, laksa, noodles, rojak and basically everything here. It is always crowded here and service was slow though.
Our limited stomach only allows us to have a plate of Salted Egg Mantis Prawn (RM 15) and Duck Noodle. Waited more than 30 minutes for both of it but loved the succulent salted egg mantis prawns!
3. Refresh yourself with Pineapple Water and Ais Kacang @ 隆冰水档
Feeling too hot in Kuala Kurau? Then quench your thirst at 隆冰水档 with the signature Pineapple Water (RM 2.00) and Ais Kacang. The pineapple water gives us an immediate refreshing sensation and loved the sweet pineapple slices!

5. Must try the signature 西亚煎
A trip to Kuala Kurau can be considered completed if you have tried the local favourite snack - 西亚煎. This simple snack has jicama slices, garlic chives and little prawns, enclosed by a thin dough. It is very crispy and the garlic chives gave an excellent aroma. Eat it with chili for a greater taste, or wrap it with yellow noodles before dipping it with chili for another texture level!
The most popular 西亚煎 is 王月清西亚煎 located near to 建成利茶室. Just walk to behind of the cafe and you will spot a couple frying 西亚煎 non stop. It is best call to book first or you might end up in a long queue. 王月清西亚煎 is the authentic and the best 西亚煎 among all! You can buy the 西亚煎 and enjoy them with a cup of Hor Ka Sai at 建成利茶室.

6. Famous Kuala Kurau 大肥德臭头麵
大肥德臭头麵 is a popular food in Kuala Kurau. It is in fact wantan mee (RM 3.50) with own kneaded noodles. The noodle is al-dente with unique texture but we felt the seasoning was lacking for us to enjoy. Nevertheless, the same stall also offers a variety of delicious herbal soup in a fraction of normal price. We had a bowl of pork stomach soup (RM 4.50) and fell in love with it!

7. Take a stroll at Ban Pecah at Tanjung Piandang and enjoy sea breeze
Ban Pecah at Tanjung Piandang offers an unparalleled view that no where else offers. It does take a better driving skill to reach Ban Pecah as it is connected by narrow kampung road sandwiched by paddy field but the view is worth the trip. Take some pictures, enjoy the sea breeze or fish here if you are adept in fishing!

8. Visit Kilang Beras Hai Hin
Do you know how does the polished rice we are eating everyday derived from, or how is the rice bran is being processed? If not, then visit Kilang Beras Hai Hin for a complimentary guided tour to understand how the paddy turns into rice granules. Call the factory up to arrange a tour session, and you can get yourself some embryo rice in a much affordable price tag here!
We had the privilege to get the supposedly the founder of the flour mills to guide us through the factory. What an eye opening session!

Pack yourself with some local produce such as salted fish, homemade fish balls, fish maws and etc or Kuala Kurau souvenirs from the souvenir shop here. It seems like this is the only souvenir shop in Kuala Kurau.
