True Korean Dining - Han Sik Ga @ Gurney Plaza, Penang

Sharing the same floor with GSC Cinema, Han Sik Ga is a relatively new Korean restaurant established in 2018. The restaurant spells a modern Korean restaurant charm, providing a much comfy environment for dining. Contrary to the popular Korean restaurants which usually offer Korean grilled meat or dakgalbi, Han Sik Ga offers more options on their noodles, Jjigae (stew) and Bibimbap. Another great thing is the menu here is relatively affordable than other Korean restaurant, as Korean food are always associated with an expensive price tag.

Though a premium Ginseng Haeshintang is available for RM 120 (serves up to 2-3 pax) that features abalone, oysters and assorted seafood, we decided to go for economic variant Ginseng Chicken for RM 38. It is the classic version with half portion of a free-range chicken and glutinous rice. Ginseng scent could be tasted from the soup but it lacks the depth that yields wow factor, especially the chicken did not really take in all the essence yet. Good thing is the restaurant provides rock salt for you to customize the soup saltiness level, and once salt added (especially onto the chicken), it elevates the taste to another level. 

We spotted the Gochujang Dakgalbi for RM 35, which we thought is a pretty good deal. Then what surprised us what the entire pot of dakgalbi is submerged in Gochujang sauce, which is quite an odd scene. You can add on Mozarella cheese or a bowl of white rice for RM 6 and RM 5 respectively. Well, dakgalbi seems like not Han Sik Ga's forte. 

Another thing which did not concur for the true Korean dining as emphasized by the restaurant is that they serve no plain water, which is a must in every Korean restaurant. Banchan is provided complimentary though.
