Route 77 Diners @ Alor Setar, Kedah

Route 77 Diners is a halal restaurant in Alor Setar that serves a combination of local and American dishes. The exterior of the restaurant is ornamented with a number of lights, suggesting a pleasant environment for a quiet dining. It is uniquely combined with a neighbouring superbike shop and somehow elements of bike is integrated into the environment. We were satisfied with what we had during our visit, despite the price is relatively higher comparing to the restaurants and cafe within the vicinity of Alor Setar. For those who are looking for a saving in budget, their set lunch is a good bargain, which comes with a main dish and a choice of drink at RM 10.90.

The Spicy Bombay Steak Burger (RM 25.90) here managed to impressed us. The patty is succulent and big in size, and somehow it is written as steak on its description which was probably true. Its dressing is unique and delicious by offering a combination of sweet, sour, spicy, attributed by their homemade Bombay sauce and mustard. While we appreciated the presence of pickles in the burger to give it some zest, it was too big in size and cause some unpleasant acidity. Therefore a smaller cut of the pickle would have been better. Overall, a satisfying burger to have. 

While there are variety of choices for set lunch such as spaghetti, western delights and Asian fares, we took Butter Rice with BBQ Grilled Chicken. Overall execution was alright - butter rice was aromatic, grilled chicken is tender, just that the nachos was a tad oily to enjoy. For the price tag RM 10.90 that comes with a passion fruit cordial, it makes a great choice for lunch. Anyhow we did not finish the passion fruit drink as it was too sweet.

There are a small drink menu offers milkshake, coffee and a variety of interesting drinks. We had a Cappuccino (RM 8.90) and it was decently brewed. 

10% of service charge will be incurred in the total bill. Overall, we thought Route 77 Diners offer a great dining experience, and serves as a great alternative should you want to enjoy some different cuisine in Alor Setar.
