The corner shoplot in the intersection between Leith Street and Chulia Street has been quietly taken over by Burger Society, a simple and pork-free restaurant that offers only burgers in a wide variety. Though it looks like a fast food restaurant (order at counter; burger available as ala carte or set), every burger here is made to order. Burgers here are nice but it still short of making it to the list of great burgers which we would be craving for.
Burger Society serves a range of patty - chicken, beef, fish and vegetarian with some interesting choices such as Soy Chicken and Loaded Mushroom. Our attention was caught by the Golden Cereal Fried Chicken (RM 16.90), which turned out to be a crispy chicken patty with salted egg yolk sauce. Scent of cereal can be tasted on the crispy chicken patty, and the patty was nicely done - nice texture and not too dry. The salted egg yolk sauce imparted some greasy factor to the burger, which was not surfeiting.
On the other hand, Neptune Burger (RM 16.90) is actually a fish burger. Somehow, it is comparable to McDonald's Fillet O' Fish, albeit the fish patty here is less dense relatively. The sauces here - classic mayonnaise worked well, and we appreciate there are fibers incorporated into the burger nicely.
One thing that would have improve the burger is the bun. Although it was grilled but it lacked solid exterior and airy interior, rendering less sturdiness to hold the burger. It would be even better if the burger dough was made with additional sesame which would do the right job in zest up the flavour. Somehow, the poor choice of burger bun somehow killed the entire burger taste.
